| | The Hotel Bulwar (above) is situated on the picturesque embankment of the Vistula river, in the Old Town of the city. Medieval fortifications, imposing gothic buildings and artistic Lazienna street are all within a short walking distance, as well as the famous landmarks such as the Copernicus (top photo) statue and the stunning House under the Star.

|  | Above photo: Lazienna Street, one of the beautiful Medieval streets. Torun, unlike many other historic cities in Poland, avoided significant destruction during World War II. In particular, the Old Town (Stare Miasto, in Polish) was left intact, so all its important monuments of architecture are original, not reconstructions.
Left photo: The richly decorated "House under the Star." Erected during the second half of the 13th century, it was rebuilt in the 16th century in Baroque style, and again in 1697, when the stucco arabesque motifs were added to the facade. [copyright Photo by Arrnau] |
